Marine Reunion 2008 Summary
September
23, 2008
The Marines landed and Washington survived!
I hope everyone returned home safely and
had a wonderful time in Washington.
Our reunion was a complete success, and I
would like to thank the men and women of our organization who made it
possible. Special thanks to Suki and Charlie Sinclair for their many hours
spent stocking, managing=2 0and hosting the hospitality suite.
Thanks to Rambo, aka Ted Bahry, for his
sparkling Master of Ceremony duties. Ted always makes the evening enjoyable.
We had a
great raffle!!! Our raffle ticket purchases were outstanding, if not record
breaking. Our thanks go out to all the men and women who assisted in sales of
raffle tickets, the organization of this event, and to all who participated.
This was a true show of unity.
Our reunion would not have
been complete without George Cleveland’s auctioneering abilities and Tom
Loch’s accounting skills. The evening was late and through George’s
leadership and auctioneer ability he maintained and controlled everyone’s
attention and wallet. George fired up everyone and our auction was a great
success.
I would also like to give a special thank
you to Don Foster, Owen Gillick and Don Foster (Red Dog) for their generous
donations even though they were not able to attend this year. This is a show
of the true meaning of Semper Fidelis. Thanks to all of our members who
generously donated time, money and supplies throughout the reunion.
Paul Christensen, will be organizing
/designing, and ordering our 2008 reunion books. The cost of the reunion book
is $30.00. We are requesting that you order your books early. It would be
appreciated if you would please include your payment with your order. Paul
would like to have a complete count of how many books to order by November 1,
2008. If you would like a book please send your checks payable to: Don
Brennan, 9237 Bellasera Circle, Myrtle Beach S.C. 29579.
If you have pictures or items you would
like included in the reunion book please forward them ASAP to Paul. Paul
Christensen, 208 3rd Ave, S.E. Belmond, IA 50421
We had a great turnout for the Evening
Parade at Marine Barracks 8th & I. It was a very impressive event
and we where honored by President Bush attending the parade. He must have
known 3rd 155 HowBtry/Mike Btry were in attendance!
Our visit to the Marine Museum at
Quantico was great; if you have never had the privilege of visiting the Museum
you are missing out. Tun Tavern was also patronized in the true tradition of
the Marines.
During our general meeting and by popular
vote, our 2009 reunion will be hosted by Allan Cruz in San Diego Cailf. The
time and details will be announced...
I would like to thank everyone that made
this reunion a complete success.
Semper Fi,
Don Brennan
